Our Crew
Venturing Crew 196 is an organization for young men and women in the Winter Springs, Longwood, Casselberry, Oviedo, and Sanford, Florida area who are at least 14 years of age, who have completed the 8th grade, and are no more than 20 years of age.
Our Crew began as a Venture Patrol of Troop 196 where we remain fully committed. We provide training to the Troop as well as organize and Lead the Troops 1st year Campouts, Hikes, and Canoe Training.
We have a sister Troop that we are also strongly committed to, Troop 236. The Scout Master of Troop 236 and his sons were members of Troop 196 and went on to start Troop 236 in Sanford and area much closer to their home. None the less a strong relationship remains and the Crew has benefited. We continue to reach out to other Troops in Seminole County in an effort to grow our Crew.
Our Crew is focused on providing solid leadership to our Boy Scout Troops through Training while providing a complete High Adventure Outdoor Program to our Crew Members.

What is Venturing?
Venturing is a co-ed program created by the Boy Scouts of America for young men and women who have similar interests in a multitude of experience areas including but not limited to high adventure, sports, boating, etc...The focus of Crew 196 is high adventure activities such as canoeing, kayaking and water skiing, camping, hiking, rock climbing and rappelling, orienteering and also to enhance our member’s life experiences with positive social activities, and community service.

When do we meet?
Venturing Crew 196 meetings are the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
